Sonic Farm 2023

This video of my performance was recorded on a small farm in Athens, Ohio. The owner is holding the property as a form of land defense. I began by shaking and listening to a goose egg found near the chicken coop. Next, I set up my kitchen equipment, including a bowl, cutting board, and whisk. I placed the egg on the cutting board, hammered it with a nail, and, for my final act, stirred the entire egg in my cooking bowl. The absurdity of the task and distortion of the birds’ living area like a funhouse mirror reflect the complex system of feelings in this rural region.
